Growing up, my parents had a huge influence on my work ethic and my desire to enter the social work field.
My dad consistently found time to volunteer with victims of domestic violence, the Lions Club, and as a Guardian Ad Litem in the court system. I grew up watching him make meaningful differences in the lives of others.
My mom instilled in me the belief that there's nothing I can't achieve through hard work, passion, and dedication. This especially proved true during my early academic years when I excelled academically despite facing learning challenges.
My social work career began part-time in an elementary school working with "at-risk youth." During my bachelor's degree at the University of South Florida, I interned for the Department of Children and Families in Protective Services, who subsequently hired me upon graduation.
The next phase of my career allowed me to serve as a Case Manager for a financial self-sufficiency program. I then pursued a Master's Degree in social work from the University of Central Florida. Post-graduation, I was promoted to Program Manager, overseeing emergency financial assistance programs. I also facilitated training for Central Florida nonprofits applying for county funding. Subsequent roles included hospice social work and working with geriatric and disabled populations.
Throughout my career, I've supervised students and Registered Clinical Interns aiming for licensure. I have treated a broad range of mental health disorders and my passion lies in working with adults, geriatrics, children, teens, and individuals with trauma and disabilities.
Personal experiences have taught me the importance of emotional resilience and persistence. I've been blessed with the support of my family and friends. I'm inspired by my own blended family, which includes my spouse and three beautiful children. I've navigated the complexities of parenting and divorce, learning valuable lessons along the way. I believe our journeys shape us, our self-perception defines us, and our dreams, goals, and faith guide us.
By incorporating these changes, you could make your narrative more precise while retaining its emotional depth and richness.
